Bellafill Charleston, WV | Bandak Plastic Surgery Bellafill

Bellafill is a collagen-based cosmetic filler that smooths facial wrinkles, and also provides an instant lift to the skin. Unlike other dermal fillers on the market, Bellafill provides long lasting correction for wrinkles. Bellafill is approved by the FDA for the correction of smile lines.

What is Bellafill made of?
Bellafill is a mixture of bovine collagen along with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. These microspheres are made of biocompatible materials that have been used in the medical field for several years.  It also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps to lessen discomfort during the procedure.

How does it work?
Like other conventional cosmetic fillers, Bellafill is injected using a small needle. The ingredients combine to provide both immediate and long term improvement in the appearance of the skin. The collagen provides an instant lift, while the PMMA microspheres provide structural support, by stimulating the production of collagen. Collagen makes the skin stronger and firmer in the long term, contributing to younger looking skin.

After Treatment
There is no downtime, so patients can normally return to regular activities right away. However, there may be some swelling, redness, itching, increased sensitivity, or pain, at the treatment site. These side effects are temporary, and should resolve within 1-7 days.

Is it safe?
Bellafill is generally safe for use on all skin types, and is recommended for individuals 21 years of age and older. However, a skin test is required to determine if patients have an allergy to collagen or lidocaine.

How long does it last?
Studies indicate that the effects of Bellafill can last up to 5 years. These long-lasting results occur because the PMMA microspheres remain in the skin, and are not absorbed by the body.
