Xeomin |Charleston, WV | Bandak Plastic Surgery Xeomin

Xeomin is a wrinkle treatment that works in a similar fashion to  Botox, to reduce dynamic wrinkles. There are some minor differences between the products, therefore during your consultation we will determine which is the most suitable option for your needs.

What is Xeomin?
Xeomin is a neurotoxin with botulinum  toxin type A as the active ingredient. It was the third  muscular neurotoxin approved by the FDA, for the temporary improvement of facial wrinkles. Like botox, Xeomin interrupts the normal functioning of the nerves, preventing any communication between them. As the muscles relax, the dynamic wrinkles soften, producing a refreshed, youthful appearance.

What can Xeomin treat?
Xeomin can be used to treat forehead furrows, crow’s feet, and glabellar lines (frown lines).

The Procedure
After an initial consultation that includes a facial evaluation, Dr. Bandak will customize a treatment plan based on your aesthetic goals. Xeomin is injected into the muscles using a fine needle. It is a virtually painless procedure that takes about 15 minutes to complete.

How does Xeomin differ from botox?
Xeomin and botox work the same way and have the same active ingredient. However, Xeomin contains no additives, while botox has accompanying proteins.  Also, Xeomin does not require refrigeration, and this helps to reduce storage and transportation costs.

What to expect
There is generally some swelling at the treatment site, and bruising is also possible. However, these side effects last only a few hours in most cases.

How long does it last?
The effects of Xeomin start to show within 1-4 days and typically last 4-6 months, but this varies depending on the amount of product used. Injections will have to be repeated every 4-5 months to maintain results.
