Radiesse | Charleston, WV | Bandak Plastic Surgery Radiesse

At Bandak Plastic Surgery, we offer several non-surgical alternatives for facial rejuvenation, including Radiesse cosmetic injectable. Radiesse is a volumizing filler that is approved for treating facial wrinkles and folds, and is particularly effective on nasolabial folds.  It also helps to restore collagen.

What is Radiesse made of?
Radiesse is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, and gel. These microspheres consist of minerals that are already present in the body. Radiesse has a very good safety profile, because it is made up of biocompatible materials that are well tolerated by most patients. Pre-testing is not required, because Radiesse does not normally cause an allergic reaction.

How does it work?
Radiesse is injected into the targeted areas in the deeper layers of the skin, using a very tiny needle. It works to stimulate collagen, which is a structural protein that gives the skin volume, and keeps it looking young and healthy. Collagen levels decline as we age, resulting in wrinkles, folds, and reduced skin laxity.

The CaHA microspheres replenish lost volume, providing an immediate lift when injected under the skin. Radiesse also encourages the growth of your own natural collagen, so correction continues several months after the initial treatment.

After Treatment
There may be some bruising, redness, and mild swelling at the injection site. These side-effects generally disappear after a few hours, or days. There is minimal downtime, as patients are able to resume regular activities as soon as the swelling goes down. The skin looks plumper, fresher, and smoother after Radiesse treatment.

How long does it last?
The volumizing results of Radiesse last up to a year, and even longer in some patients.
